Bye Bye Party for Cole
If you listen to the Surf, you know about Old Soul Cole, the intern from USC. He is going back to school. . The group had a HUGE gettogether on Tuesday, August 9th at the OD Pavilion. Cole ( who might have been the youngest ever allowed) played some of his favorite tunes from the DJ Booth at the Pavilion. Thanks to everyone that came out to do a little dancing on the hardwood and tell Cole goodbye in person. It was a blast. We will definitely miss Old Soul Cole.

Just know, you certainly will be missed around here. It has been a great summer listening to you grow into an awesome voice on The Surf. You are one special young man and I am so glad I have gotten to know you over the last two years. Have a blast this year, keep finding those treasured songs and we shall see you next summer Cole!

I’ll miss you on Tuesdays and our talks on and off the air. I’m really happy you’ll be back next summer and look forward to hearing about some USC adventures. If you begin to starve on Tuesdays let me know and I’ll try to get a “care” package together. Enjoy your Senior year, keep finding those hidden gem songs and we will see you in ‘23.

Terrific job on The Surf this Summer, Cole!
Your knowledge of and enthusiasm for Beach, R&B, and Soul music is impressive. You’re also a fantastic shagger, but there would not be “Keepers of the Dance” without “Keepers of the Music.” The future of this music is in very good hands, indeed!

“Excellent” job this summer working through your internship! You complimented JQ well and obviously he thinks a lot of you. Enjoyed the shows this summer. I say they should give you a raise and you just stay on the station. College is overrated and much too expensive these days. Have some fun and get a JQ “real life” degree.

Besides just being so darn cute, you made me laugh everyday. When I would be in the station, I loved watching the dynamics between the both of you. You made JQ funnier and that’s hard to do. We both would be freezing. I’m so impressed with your knowledge of the music, but I love that you love it. We enjoyed spending time with your parents. They raised a great young man. I have truly enjoyed listening to you and Jim Quick, and on Thursday with the Professor! I had hoped to get up to the “tiki bar” this summer, but wasn’t able to get there. Maybe next summer. I wish you the best as you go back to school, and look forward to you returning on holidays if you come home, or next summer. Take good care and enjoy your school year. You’re a great ole sole, and it is refreshing to see younger people getting involved in beach music, the shag, and broadcasting!
