Are you a fan of Carolina Beach Music? I am not talking about facebook friends and likes on this blog post. I am asking if you support the bands, the clubs, the promoters and events. The term beach music has a lot of people confused that have never experienced what we as fans have followed here in the Carolinas for years. Some of us have been fans of this type of music much longer than others. Its origin has about as many different views as the Shag Dance.
I am asking about the Support! I think one of the the biggest ways to show your support is join the CBMA. Every November the Carolina Beach Music Awards throws a weekend party in North Myrtle Beach. I don’t think you will ever see as many artists in one place than you will during the CBMA weekend. The big weekend this year actually starts on Wednesday night November 6th, 2013.
All the participating clubs will feature bands each night leading up to the Industry Awards on Saturday at the Spanish Galleon. The Award show is held on Sunday at the Alabama Theatre. Some really big names in the music industry have performed on stage along with all of our favorite local artists. The VIP After Party brings the weekend to a close..it usually lasts into the wee hours of Monday morning. This is one weekend you don’t want to miss if you are a fan of the music and like to see the bands and top DJs.
Who picks the Awards?
Many fans and new artists have asked about how the awards are chosen. Nominations and Voting are done by the Academy and Assosiate members. First nomination forms go out to the industry members and the Academy members. Results from the nomination forms are tabulated to create the ballot which then is sent out to all the members for voting. The awards are presented in November on Saturday and Sunday. If you would like to participate in the nominating and voting process for 2013 awards, you need to join as an academy member by August 1st, 2013.. If you just want to vote on the ballot, you need to join by September 15th, 2013.
